The Client

PowerPulse is an industry-first digital platform falling under the Standard Bank umbrella that matches businesses to accredited solar providers.

The Brief

Within the confines of the greater Standard Bank corporate identity, we were tasked with creating a digital look and feel that would roll out into a B2B campaign aimed at educating potential users of the platform about its benefits and functionality.

This would go on to include:

  • Animated educational videos
  • Banner ads
  • Infographics
  • LinkedIn and Facebook posts

My Role

For this campaign I played several roles including art director, illustrator, designer and animator. 

Art direction: Building the digital look and feel I took cues from the main Standard Bank corporate identity and used that to inform everything from image styling and treatment to typography and illustration style. 

Illustration: The illustration style needed its own unique flavour while still speaking back to the motherbrand. I focused on strong sillhouettes made up of clean forms and a limited colour palette of blues accented by yellow, visually speaking to the shapes and lines unique to solar panels. The use of simple vector shapes also served the purpose of streamlining and simplifying the animation process. As there were a total of five videos, I was able to flesh out the style over several storyboards.

Animation: I animated a portion of the videos myself as well as overseeing the animation of the rest of the videos. The project gave me a chance to really experiment with my After Effects skills.

Design: The design portion of this job included image search and treatment as well as the rollout of the various elements mentioned above.
